Historical Notes
The Rocker Box McMullen County compilation states that seven burro loads of silver are said to have been lost, possibly buried, somewhere in Seven Rocks Hill. Tilden is the McMullen County seat on the Frio River downstream from Fowlerton. The Frio River flows through northeastern La Salle, northern McMullen, and northwestern Live Oak counties before reaching the Nueces. Burro-load silver tales cluster in the same guidebooks as Rock Pens gold-ore legends west of Tilden. Coordinates mark Tilden on the Frio River in McMullen County with Seven Rocks Hill in the surrounding ranch country.
