Frio River Sabinal Confluence Quicksilver Hoard — Uvalde County

Lost Treasure TX • Uvalde County County
Description
Frio River legend of lost quicksilver ore or processed mercury buried near where the Sabinal River joins the Frio in southeastern Uvalde County.
Historical Notes
The Sabinal River joins the Frio River in southeastern Uvalde County. The Rocker Box Uvalde County compilation describes a quicksilver source north of Sabinal found by Texas Rangers but never relocated; lead-mine variants are documented separately north of Sabinal town. This entry marks the Sabinal–Frio confluence where tributary mineral folklore merges with main-stem river cache traditions. Cinnabar occurrences in the Hill Country fed lost-lode tales throughout the Edwards Plateau. Coordinates approximate the Sabinal River mouth on the Frio River in Uvalde County.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
