Frio River Garner State Park Strongbox — Uvalde County

Lost Treasure TX • Uvalde County County
Description
Garner State Park legend of an unrecovered strongbox along the Frio River — the Hill Country swimming and camping reach that became one of Texas's most popular CCC-era parks in 1941.
Historical Notes
Garner State Park lies on the Frio River in Uvalde County. The river was dammed to form several lakes along its course including Frank Kincaid Lake near the park. CCC-era construction and decades of campers layered new folklore onto older ranch-country cache tales. River-bluff and campground strongbox legends are common along the Frio from Concan to Leakey. No authenticated recovery is documented at Garner State Park. Coordinates mark Garner State Park on the Frio River in Uvalde County.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
