French Indian War Payroll Gold Minerva

Lost Treasure OH • Carroll County County
Description
Carroll County legend of French and Indian War payroll gold buried near Minerva along the Augusta–Ridge Road corridor east of Canton — one of Ohio's oldest colonial-era treasure traditions.
Historical Notes
Compiled Ohio guides place British or colonial payroll chests concealed in the Minerva hills during the French and Indian War era. The Augusta–Ridge Road landmark ties the hoard to Carroll County's eighteenth-century frontier traffic between the Ohio River and Lake Erie. No documented recovery appears in regional treasure compilations despite repeated searches near Minerva.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
