The Rocker Box El Paso County page cites guidebook lore that 300 burro loads of Spanish gold and silver bullion are buried on Franklin Mountain. The tale belongs to the long tradition of entrada and mission-era bullion stories along the Rio Grande corridor. Franklin Mountains State Park preserves tin-mine ruins, pictographs, and McKelligon Canyon trails above El Paso. No authenticated Spanish bullion recovery has been documented on the mountain. Coordinates mark the central Franklin Mountains ridge above downtown El Paso.
