Historical Notes
The Rocker Box Kimble County page describes a cache of silver bars buried south of Fort McKavett. Fort McKavett was established in 1852 on the San Antonio–El Paso road and is one of the best-preserved frontier posts in Texas. Fort McKavett State Historic Site preserves officers' quarters and parade grounds. Garrison and trail-cache folklore often places specie south of frontier posts along the road to Sonora. Coordinates approximate the Fort McKavett historic site south of the post in Kimble County.
