Fort Laramie Stage Station Gold Chests Oregon Trail — Goshen County

Lost Treasure WY • Goshen County County
Description
Fort Laramie legend of $30,000 in gold hidden in several chests near the stage station on the Oregon Trail military post.
Historical Notes
The Rocker Box separately records $30,000 of gold in several chests thought buried near the Fort Laramie stage station — distinct from army payroll and Billingsly variants in the same county compilation. Stage and military freight converged at Fort Laramie after William Sublette's 1834 trading post became an Army garrison. W.C. Jameson's Lost Mines and Buried Treasures of Old Wyoming anthologizes additional holdup lore on the Cheyenne road. Coordinates mark the Fort Laramie stage-road complex. Legend only — federal historic site.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
