Description
Methodist congregation organized 1856 by Rev. Charles A. Grote; among the earliest Protestant churches in Mason County with continuous worship tradition.
Historical Notes
Rev. Charles A. Grote, a traveling German Methodist Episcopal minister, provided some of the first Protestant preaching in the area and helped organize the congregation in 1856. Methodist camp meetings drew ranch families from across the Llano River country before permanent sanctuaries replaced brush arbors and home meetings.
