Description
Fairy legend of a pioneer specie cache in eastern Hamilton County — a rural cotton-and-cattle community between the Leon River and the Hico rail country.
Historical Notes
Fairy is a small Hamilton County community in the eastern part of the county between the Leon River drainage and the Texas Central Railroad country around Hico. The county's 1880–1910 cotton boom drew farmers to wooded stream valleys while open-range cattle and sheep ranching continued on the divides. Pioneer-cache tales appear throughout Hamilton County guidebooks alongside published Frontier Times articles on buried treasure in the county. No authenticated recovery has been documented at Fairy. Coordinates approximate Fairy in eastern Hamilton County on Farm Road 219.
