Historical Notes
Fairland is a Burnet County ghost town listed by The Rocker Box about five miles north of Marble Falls on the Colorado River corridor. Early Burnet County settlements included Smithwick, Oatmeal, and Backbone Valley before railroads reshaped the Hill Country economy. Ghost-town pioneer caches appear throughout Highland Lakes guidebooks wherever pre-rail communities faded after the Austin and Northwestern arrived. No authenticated hoard has been documented at Fairland. Coordinates approximate Fairland north of Marble Falls in southern Burnet County.
