Historical Notes
The Rocker Box La Salle County compilation states that a burro load of gold is said to be buried on Estambel Hill. Cotulla sits on the International-Great Northern Railroad in northwestern La Salle County, hub of the Winter Garden onion country and the surrounding cattle ranches. Burro-load gold caches are cataloged throughout W. C. Jameson's Guide to Treasure in Texas for the Nueces Strip and Rio Grande Plain. No authenticated recovery is documented at Estambel Hill. Coordinates approximate Estambel Hill in the La Salle County ranch country north of Cotulla.
