Ekalaka Outlaw Hideout Cache — Carter County

Lost Treasure MT • Carter County County
Description
Ekalaka legend of outlaw hideout strongboxes in southeastern Montana rimrock — cattle-rustler country between Miles City and the Dakota line where Kid Curry and road-agent gangs sought refuge.
Historical Notes
Pinkerton records cited in TreasureNet describe outlaw shootouts in the Lavina–Billings corridor; southeastern Montana towns including Ekalaka offered remote hideouts for rustlers drifting east from the Yellowstone stage roads. Carter County treasure tradition pairs rimrock camps with empty or looted strongboxes similar to the 1922 Horse Camp Ranch discovery east of Lavina in Netzel's research. Coordinates mark downtown Ekalaka in Carter County southeast of Miles City. Private property — legend only.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
