Eagle Mountains Chief Victorio Gold — Hudspeth County

Lost Treasure TX • Hudspeth County County
Description
Hudspeth County legend of Chief Victorio's gold in the Eagle Mountains southeast of El Paso on the Apache frontier.
Historical Notes
The Rocker Box Hudspeth County page states Chief Victorio's gold is supposed to be located in the Eagle Mountains. Apache chief Victorio led resistance across the Trans-Pecos and New Mexico borderlands in the 1870s–1880s; chief's-gold legends are staples of Southwest treasure guides. Related Hudspeth entries in the same compilation include Snively's Lost Mine and an Apache cave filled with gold in the Eagle Mountains. The Eagle range lies south of Sierra Blanca in remote Hudspeth County ranch country. Coordinates approximate the Eagle Mountains in southeastern Hudspeth County.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
