Dunham Perry Mine — Shafter District

Gold Mining Site TX • Presidio County County
Description
The Dunham Perry Mine in the Shafter district shipped four carloads of silver-zinc-lead ore with varying gold content to an El Paso smelter in 1933.
Historical Notes
Dunham Perry developed a mine in Section 2, Block 8, Houston and Texas Central Railway Survey in 1932. TSHA records four carloads shipped to an El Paso smelter in 1933 with varying silver, zinc, lead, and gold values. The Depression-era shipments illustrate how Shafter district ore continued to reach El Paso refineries even after the Presidio Mine's major shutdowns. Gold recovery was metallurgical byproduct, not primary output. Coordinates approximate the Dunham Perry Mine in the Shafter Mining District.
