Double Mountains Aztec Treasure — Stonewall County

Lost Treasure TX • Stonewall County County
Description
Stonewall County legend of Spanish conquistadors hiding Aztec treasure in or around the Double Mountains northwest of Abilene — a landmark visible across the Rolling Plains.
Historical Notes
The Rocker Box Stonewall County compilation describes Spanish conquistadors concealing Aztec treasure in or around the Double Mountains. The twin peaks rise prominently from the plains of Stonewall, King, and Haskell counties. The Double Mountains were a navigation landmark on the Comanche War Trail and later cattle drives. Spanish entrada lore attached to visible mesas across West Texas even where no mission or mine was documented. Coordinates approximate the Double Mountains in northwestern Stonewall County.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
