Dinosaur National Monument Outlaw Trail Cache — Uintah County

Lost Treasure UT • Uintah County County
Description
Split Mountain legend of outlaw-trail specie along the Green River — where Butch Cassidy country, Powell expeditions, and Uintah Basin treasure hunters overlap near Dinosaur National Monument.
Historical Notes
Visit Utah's Outlaw Trail feature ties Dinosaur National Monument and the Green River gorge to cowboy-outlaw lore in the same Uintah Basin travel corridor as Blind Frog Ranch and Vernal. John Wesley Powell's 1869 Green River run and later cattle-rustling trails fed strongbox folklore along Split Mountain and the Gates of Lodore approach. Coordinates mark Split Mountain / Dinosaur National Monument river country near Jensen. National monument regulations prohibit unauthorized digging.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
