Dimmit County legend of several million dollars in gold and silver dropped into a spring in southwestern Dimmit County west of Cotulla on the Winter Garden plain.
Historical Notes
The Rocker Box Dimmit County page states that several million dollars worth of gold and silver are said to have been dropped into a spring in southwestern Dimmit County. Dimmit County borders La Salle County to the west; Cotulla farmers studied artesian irrigation techniques pioneered in neighboring Dimmit during the onion boom. Spring-sink treasure tales complement related Dimmit County entries for Peña Creek and Espantosa Lake documented in the Laredo-area import. Buried Treasures of Texas cites the southwestern spring variant. Coordinates approximate southwestern Dimmit County west of Cotulla toward Carrizo Springs.
