Cypress Mill Ghost Town Pioneer Cache — Blanco County

Lost Treasure TX • Blanco County County
Description
Cypress Mill legend of a pioneer cache at the eastern Blanco County ghost town — a former mill community on Cypress Creek toward the Travis County line.
Historical Notes
Cypress Mill is a former mill community in eastern Blanco County on Cypress Creek, which flows toward the Pedernales and Colorado drainages near the Travis County border. Early Blanco County settlements clustered along wooded streams while Comanche and Lipan Apache bands still claimed the Hill Country frontier. Mill-site and ghost-town cache tales appear throughout Central Texas guidebooks wherever nineteenth-century gristmills and cotton gins handled merchant specie. Cypress Mill lies east of Johnson City toward the Austin Hill Country. Coordinates approximate Cypress Mill in eastern Blanco County.
