Cross Hollows Civil War Treasure — Benton County

Lost Treasure AR • Benton County County
Description
Cross Hollows near Pea Ridge battlefield — legend of Confederate or bushwhacker payroll and church silver buried in caves and spring branches before Union forces overran northwest Arkansas in 1862.
Historical Notes
Cross Hollows was a strategic camping ground and supply route between Bentonville and Pea Ridge. Heavy Civil War traffic through the hollows produced enduring stories of hurriedly buried funds and looted goods. TreasureNet and regional collectors repeat accounts of cave caches in the hollow's karst, sometimes linked to the Pea Ridge campaign or post-battle scavengers. Encyclopedia of Arkansas documents Cross Hollows as a historic corridor; treasure variants are folklore extensions of documented military movement rather than verified deposits.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
