Near the mouth of Stray Dog Creek, in section 12 T31N R36E, is the Blue Bar Placer mine in the Columbia River. It is annually renewed with flour gold. On the Columbia River 2 miles above the Blue Bar, near Turtle Rapids, is the Turtle Rapids Placer Mine.
