Comanche Cattle Trail Strongbox — Comanche County

Lost Treasure TX • Comanche County County
Description
Comanche legend of a cattle-trail strongbox buried near the county seat — the Comanche County hub west of Hico on the Central Texas ranching frontier.
Historical Notes
Comanche was established as the Comanche County seat and a market town for ranchers and cotton farmers west of Hamilton County. Open-range cattle drives and later railroad shipping moved payroll cash through the county before modern banking reached the region. Cattle-trail and shipping-point folklore often places buried strongboxes where trail bosses converted herds to rail consignments. Comanche Chief newspaper archives document decades of local history including modern treasure-hunting interest. Coordinates mark downtown Comanche in Comanche County west of Hico.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
