Description
Esmeralda County legend of a hidden cache taken from highwaymen when Columbus was a prosperous mining camp — buried near the original townsite southwest of US 95.
Historical Notes
Columbus, Nevada, flourished as a mining town before fading; the original site lies in nearby hills separate from later workings. Legends of America recounts loot hidden after confrontations with road agents along the desert freight routes south of Goldfield. Only foundations mark the old camp today, but cache stories persist among Esmeralda County treasure hunters.
