Historical Notes
Colmesneil developed as a Kirby Lumber Company town on the Texas and New Orleans Railroad west of Rockland. John Henry Kirby operated vast East Texas timber holdings from the late 1800s through the early 1900s. Mill-town payroll caches mirror the Diboll Southern Pine tradition in Angelina County. Tyler County's Fort Teran historic corridor lies a few miles north on the Neches. Coordinates mark Colmesneil in Tyler County west of Lufkin.
