College Station Houston and Texas Central Payroll

Lost Treasure TX • Brazos County County
Description
College Station folklore tied to its 1876 founding as a Houston & Texas Central Railroad stop — legends of unrecovered payroll chests and robbery loot along the tracks that became Texas A&M University.
Historical Notes
College Station began as "College Station" on the Houston & Texas Central when the railroad reached the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas in 1876. The town grew around depots, warehouses, and the campus. Central Texas rail-town treasure tales describe strongboxes buried near water tanks, section houses, and cotton platforms when bandits threatened lines between Houston, Bryan, and Dallas. The Northgate district and old H&TC right-of-way preserve the corridor. No authenticated cache documented. Coordinates mark downtown College Station at the historic railroad campus junction.
