Clear Creek Lafitte Cache — League City

Lost Treasure TX • Galveston County County
Description
Upper Galveston Bay legend that Jean Lafitte buried treasure on or near Clear Creek — the waterway forming part of the boundary between Galveston and Harris counties.
Historical Notes
Clear Creek drains from the Houston suburbs into Clear Lake and then Galveston Bay. Lafitte's smuggling network used bayous and creeks to move goods inland away from naval patrols at the bay entrance. The Rocker Box notes Lafitte treasure on or near Clear Creek, with some versions placing the site in Harris County. League City, Friendswood, and the NASA Parkway corridor have seen recurring metal-detecting hunts. No authenticated Lafitte cache has been recovered. Coordinates approximate Clear Creek at the League City / Galveston County line. Respect private property and park rules.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
