Chocolate Bayou Lafitte Treasure

Lost Treasure TX • Brazoria County County
Description
Brazoria County legend that pirate Jean Lafitte buried treasure on Chocolate Bayou — a coastal prairie stream south of Houston flowing toward Galveston Bay.
Historical Notes
Chocolate Bayou drains the Brazoria County interior toward the Gulf, passing near Livermore, Alvin, and the Lake Jackson area. Gulf Coast treasure forums repeat Lafitte burial lore along bayous between Galveston and the San Bernard River. TexAgs outdoors discussions cite Chocolate Bayou among upper Texas coast Lafitte cache traditions. Smugglers used shallow bayous to move contraband away from naval patrols at Galveston Bay entrances. No authenticated recovery. Coordinates approximate mid-Chocolate Bayou south of Houston. Respect private ranch and floodway property.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
