China Spring Stage Robbery Loot

Lost Treasure TX • McLennan County County
Description
China Spring west of Waco — 19th-century stage and farm-road holdup lore describing buried strongboxes along the old Austin–Waco road.
Historical Notes
China Spring grew as a rural community west of Waco along routes connecting the Brazos country to Austin and the Hill Country. Post–Civil War banditry and stagecoach robberies were common across Central Texas. Regional treasure guides list China Spring among McLennan County search areas for unrecovered robbery loot — typically small strongboxes of cash buried near creek crossings west of Waco. Coordinates approximate China Spring. Suburban growth from Waco-Crawford has altered much of the landscape since the 1800s.
