Cement Gold Mine — Mammoth Mountain

Lost Treasure CA • Mono County County
Description
Eastern Sierra lost-mine legend of the Cement Gold Mine near Mammoth Mountain — cement-like ore that yielded spectacular gold until the entrance was lost to snow, rockfall, or faulty memory.
Historical Notes
Legends of America's lost-mines page names the Cement Gold Mine of Mammoth Mountain among Mono County's high-country treasure stories. Prospectors described unusually cemented gold-bearing rock in the alpine country east of the Mother Lode before the site vanished from maps. Modern hunters associate the legend with the Long Valley and Mammoth Lakes prospecting era rather than verified USGS producers.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
