Captain Kidd Wethersfield Connecticut River

Lost Treasure CT • Hartford County County
Description
Wethersfield legend of Captain Kidd burying treasure overland from a Connecticut River landing — a river-port cache east of Hartford.
Historical Notes
Wethersfield is one of Connecticut's oldest towns on the east bank of the Connecticut River. Treasure-hunting accounts say Kidd sailed upriver, landed near Wethersfield, and concealed loot inland before continuing toward Boston. The tale pairs with Windsor and Salmon Brook hoards in Hartford County pirate and Revolutionary lore.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
