Captain Kidd Glocester Farm Treasure

Lost Treasure RI • Providence County County
Description
Glocester legend of Captain Kidd treasure buried on a northwestern Rhode Island farm — a dig interrupted by the scaly Glocester Ghoul guardian in 1833 folklore.
Historical Notes
In November 1833 six Glocester men including Albert Hicks dug for Captain Kidd's treasure on a local farm. Providence Journal and later New York World accounts say a fiery scaled creature scared the party away from the hole. The tale anchors Providence County inland treasure lore distinct from Narragansett Bay pirate island caches.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
