Description
LOCATION COUNTY: Crook County STATE: Oregon East of Prineville, in hills bordering Ochoco Creek, the Howard district, had a total production through 1923 of about 20,000 ounces of lode gold. The lower part of Scissors creek, above its junction with Ochoco creek, there were many small placer operations. On the west bank of Ochoco Creek, you will find the Ophir - Mayflower Mine which was the man lode gold producer in this county.
