1879 legend: Henry Seymour's gang robbed a stagecoach of $225,000 in newly minted coins at Pine Spring Station. After a day-long standoff and fire, the posse found the outlaws dead but never the three boxes of coins.
Historical Notes
Between Beaverhead Station and Brigham City (Glen Canyon / Marble Canyon country), outlaw Henry Seymour robbed a stage of $225,000 in new coins in 1879. The gang holed up at Pine Spring Station. A 20-man posse besieged the building, set fire to the rear wall, and shot the bandits as they fled — but the three boxes of coins were never found despite immediate search.
