Bosque River Western Hamilton County Pioneer Specie — Hamilton County

Lost Treasure TX • Hamilton County County
Description
Western Hamilton County legend of pioneer specie buried along the upper Bosque River — distinct from the Hico cotton-merchant caches in northeastern Hamilton County.
Historical Notes
The Bosque River drains northwestern Hamilton County toward Waco and Lake Whitney. Pioneers settled wooded stream valleys while leaving intervening divides as open range; the county's first post office opened at Hico in 1860 as communities spread along parallel creeks. Bosque River bottomland folklore places emergency strongboxes in western Hamilton County ranch country, separate from Hico's railroad-era merchant tales. Related Waco-area entries document Bosque County outlaw variants farther east. Coordinates approximate the upper Bosque River in northwestern Hamilton County west of Carlton.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
