Bluffton Community Church — Llano County

Historic Church TX • Llano County County
Description
Church serving Bluffton on the Colorado River — one of Llano County's earliest settlements, rebuilt after an 1883 fire and later moved when Lake Buchanan was impounded.
Historical Notes
Bluffton originated when Billy Davis settled on the Colorado River in 1852. By 1883 Bluffton had a blacksmith shop, cotton gin, hotel, and saloons before a fire destroyed the town; it rebuilt and later relocated when Buchanan Dam flooded the original site in 1937. Bluffton and Tow anchored the northeastern Colorado River settlements of Llano County before the railroad reached Llano in 1892.
