Big Nose George Point of Rocks Cache

Lost Treasure WY • Sweetwater County County
Description
Sweetwater County legend that outlaw George "Big Nose George" Parrot hid a large quantity of road-agent wealth in or near Point of Rocks before his 1881 Rawlins lynching.
Historical Notes
Parrot's Sim Jan gang robbed Union Pacific pay wagons and stages in the Powder River country; Dutch Charlie and Big Nose George were separately lynched in Carbon County. Sweetwater County treasure lists tie Point of Rocks on the Overland Trail to unrecovered gang loot from the 1878–1880 crime spree. The medicine bag made from Parrot's tanned skin was never found after Dr. John Osborne's bizarre postmortem experiments in Rawlins.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
