Betsy Ship Silver Beach Haven Inlet

Lost Treasure NJ • Ocean County County
Description
Ocean County legend of the ship Betsy sinking just off Beach Haven Inlet with a large shipment of silver coins aboard — a recoverable inlet wreck hoard.
Historical Notes
Beach Haven Inlet separates Long Beach Island from Holgate on the southern Ocean County shore. Compiled Atlantic Coast guides credit the Betsy wreck with a substantial silver coin cargo just outside the inlet. Metal-detector clubs still cite the sinking among Long Beach Island's best-documented recoverable treasures.
