Bertram Railroad Shipping Strongbox — Burnet County

Lost Treasure TX • Burnet County County
Description
Bertram legend of a railroad shipping-point strongbox — the Burnet County rail town that prospered as a commercial center for Hill Country farmers after 1882.
Historical Notes
Bertram was established as a railroad town when the Austin and Northwestern reached Burnet County in 1882. The Houston and Texas Central extension to Lampasas in 1903 made Bertram a shipping point and commercial center for area farmers and ranchers. Rail-shipping specie caches appear throughout Burnet County guidebooks alongside quarry and dam payroll variants. Communities bypassed by the railroads — such as Lacy, Naruna, and Strickling — faded while Bertram prospered. Coordinates mark downtown Bertram in eastern Burnet County on the Austin corridor.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
