Badu Park — Llano River Gold Panning

Gold Mining Site TX • Llano County County
Description
Badu City Park on the Llano River/Lake Llano waterfront near historic downtown Llano. Sandy beach, fishing pier, and calm swimming — public bank access for recreational gold panning.
Historical Notes
Badu Park (101 W. Grayson St.) is a City of Llano waterfront park funded in part by Texas Parks & Wildlife and the Lower Colorado River Authority grants. It includes a beach, fishing pier, pavilions, and green space along the impounded Llano River reach above the town dam. Visit Llano highlights Badu for good swimming and lists all four city river parks as places where panning for gold is free. Fine placer gold may appear in sandy beach gravels and along the pier pilings after floods — typically small flakes suitable for hobby collecting. Young anglers under 17 may fish the river without a license per Texas rules. Follow city park regulations and freshwater fishing limits.
