Atlantic City Miner Strongbox Legend

Lost Treasure WY • Fremont County County
Description
Atlantic City legend of hidden miner savings from the 1868 Sweetwater rush — a sister camp to South Pass City and Miner's Delight where saloons, dance halls, and abandoned diggings fuel cache stories.
Historical Notes
Atlantic City boomed after gold strikes near South Pass in 1867–1868, peaking near five hundred residents before the district declined. Legends of America and Wind River Country tourism tie Atlantic City's restored buildings to tales of strongboxes never recovered after busts and fires. Calamity Jane reportedly worked the Atlantic City and Miner's Delight camps before moving on to Deadwood.
Status / Verification legend — Legendary or approximate
