Description
Early Mason County school in the Art community on the Llano River; among schools organized in the late 1850s and 1860s before countywide consolidation.
Historical Notes
Gillespie County organized a school precinct in 1854 serving what became Mason County. Art, Hilda, Koockville, and Mason organized some of the earliest schools in the late 1850s and early 1860s. Rural district schools persisted until 1946 consolidation into Mason ISD.
