Description
Rural church serving the Art settlement on the Llano River between Mason and Hedwigs Hill; part of the southern Mason County ranching corridor.
Historical Notes
Art lies along the Llano River and Art–Hedwigs Hill Road corridor referenced in TPWD access directions. Rural churches in Art, Koockville, Hilda, and similar settlements served dispersed ranch families. Mason County remained 70–80 percent German-born foreign stock into the early twentieth century; rural churches conducted services in German and English.
