Angelina River Sawmill Outlaw Cache

Lost Treasure TX • Angelina County County
Description
Angelina County legend of outlaw loot cached along the Angelina River between Lufkin and the Neches confluence — a river-bottom variant distinct from the Biloxi Creek tale.
Historical Notes
The Angelina River flows south through Lufkin toward the Neches and Sam Rayburn Reservoir. Nineteenth-century shingle camps and later sawmill towns lined the bottoms, moving cash payrolls by wagon and river barge. Related entry: "Biloxi Creek Outlaw Loot — Angelina County" documents the Rocker Box citation for Biloxi Creek specifically. This pin covers the main Angelina River corridor folklore cited in East Texas compilations. Coordinates approximate the Angelina River south of Lufkin in Angelina County.
