Allamore Mountains Gold Traces — Culberson County

Gold Mining Site TX • Culberson County County
Description
The Allamore Mountains in Culberson County carry reported gold traces in Trans-Pecos Precambrian rocks — part of the Van Horn–Allamoore mineral belt south of Guadalupe Pass.
Historical Notes
TSHA's gold summary places trace occurrences in the Allamore Mountains alongside Shafter, Van Horn, and Quitman ranges. Texas total historical gold production of roughly 8,277 fine ounces came chiefly from Presidio and Hazel lode mines, not Allamore placers. The Allamore range lies between the Guadalupe Mountains and Van Horn on the San Antonio–El Paso corridor. Hematite and copper prospects appear in the same Precambrian terrane. Recreational placer work is impractical; interest is geological and historical. Respect private ranch land. Coordinates approximate the Allamore Mountains in southern Culberson County.
